Hungarian Shortbread🇭🇺


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough
    In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
    In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Beat in egg yolks and vanilla, then gradually add dry ingredients.
  2. Chill and Grate the Dough
    Divide the dough in two. Flatten into disks, wrap in plastic, and freeze for 30 minutes.
    Grate one portion into a greased or parchment-lined 9×9-inch pan.
  3. Add the Filling
    Gently press the grated dough into the pan.
    Spread the jam evenly over the top.
  4. Top and Bake
    Grate the second half of the dough over the jam.
    Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes until golden.
  5. Cool and Serve
    Let cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.

This shortbread tastes even better the next day when the flavors meld together beautifully!
