Hungarian plum dumplings🇭🇺

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Make the dough:
Mash the cooked potatoes until smooth. Let cool slightly. Add flour, egg, and salt. Mix into a soft, not sticky dough. Add more flour as needed.
  2. Prep the plums:
Slice plums in half (not all the way through), remove pits, and place a bit of cinnamon sugar inside each.
  3. Form dumplings:
Roll dough out on a floured surface (~¼ inch thick). Cut into squares. Place a plum in the center of each square. Fold dough around plum and seal well — roll into a ball shape.
  4. Boil dumplings:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle boil. Drop dumplings in carefully. When they float, cook another 3–4 minutes, then remove with a slotted spoon.
  5. Prepare coating:
In a skillet, melt butter and toast the breadcrumbs until golden. Roll dumplings in the breadcrumbs while still warm.
  6. Serve:
Sprinkle with extra cinnamon sugar if desired. Best enjoyed warm!

❤️ Tips:

  • You can also use apricots or even plums with a sugar cube inside.
  • If you like a sweeter bite, add more sugar to the breadcrumb coating.
