
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Dough
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, egg yolks, and melted butter. Mix and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover with a cloth and let rise for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
2️⃣ Form & Coat the Dough Balls
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch thick.
- Cut out small rounds (about 1 inch wide) using a cookie cutter or glass.
- Dip each piece into melted butter, then roll in the walnut-sugar mixture.
- Arrange in a buttered baking dish, stacking slightly like monkey bread.
3️⃣ Bake
- Let the dough rest for 15 minutes before baking.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown.
4️⃣ Make the Vanilla Custard (While Baking)
- Heat milk in a saucepan until warm.
- In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla.
- Slowly pour the warm milk into the mixture, stirring constantly.
- Return to the stove and cook on low heat until thick and creamy.
5️⃣ Serve & Enjoy!
